About the new Do-Not-Disturb policy

Dear Customers,

Please be informed that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has directed all Telecommunications Company (MTN, GLO, Airtel, Etisalat, etc.) to allow existing subscribers to opt-in to receive SMS on Telemarketing, including but not limited to Value Added Services, e.g. flight schedule, weather forecast etc. in conformity with Part 111, section 20 (2) of CCPR, while consent of new subscribers will be sought to opt-in at the beginning of the contract.

MTN NG has in response, implemented a Full Blocking mode for Do-Not-Disturb on some numbers without the consent of the subscribers on their network.

The implication of this is that, all bulk SMS that is sent to phone numbers that have been placed on Do-Not-Disturb by MTN NG will be rejected and you will still be charged, because the networks charge us for all submissions regardless of the status.

This is a general directive affecting unsolicited messages (Bulk SMS) only, phone to phone messages and bank alerts are not affected, and it has been in force since the 1st of July, 2016. 

We therefore advise all stakeholders to inform their recipients whose numbers are on the DND list (as indicated by the rejected SMS shown in the delivery report) to contact their respective networks to have them removed from the DND list before their numbers can be allowed to receive Bulk SMS on them.

  1. Dis is too bad for MTN, even my own number cannot receive bulk sms which am trying to send to my client. I did not subscribe for DND. Pls dis is affecting our business oooh. Most of our recipients are MTN users.

      Many apologies for the inconveniences.

      You can notify your subscriber to opt-out of the service if they want to, by simply texting ALLOW to 2442. They will be able to receive the message when they are out of that mode.

  2. U guys are starting to vex me.....what's with the number verification every time....I have been trying to send my sms since monday and u keep telling me a confirmation code has been sent to me and where is the code.....I haven't seen it ......what's wrong with this site.....

  3. SMSLive 247 do reject Text messages even in day time, while to same numbers voice calls and phone-to-phone messages do enter, WHY IS THAT?

  4. The facility DO NOT DISTURB from MTN is inactive on my MTN line but still bulk sms from SMSLIVE247.COM does not deliver to my line. I use it for testing most time to see how effective is your service. But I have been receiving sms from other bulk sms channels e,g LEP PREMIER LEAGUE and others. I believe SMSLIVE247 need to do something about their system because i believe the DND law passed by NCC also affect other telecommunication network Airtel, Etisalat etc because all bulk sms i have been sending from this platform to other numbers especially Eisalat have been going smoothly without delays. Please you guys should improvise immediately and give us your customers a better service than ever. Thank you

      You can opt out of the DND mode to reeive sms on your MTN number.

      To opt-out of the DND mode with your network provider, you should send ALLOW to '2442', it may require that you send it more than once before you will be removed from the DND mode. You will get a confirmation from them that ' The Do-Not-Disturb service has been successfully deactivated for your number.'

    What is the explanation for the constant "verification required" that restrains me from sending messages at critical moments, whereas the verification code is usually never sent after the sending of the sms becomes useless. Please you guys should free my account: nbaasaba@gmail.com

      You will be required to verify your number every 60 days, to confirm that the account is being accessed by it's owner and no a scammer.

      You may not be receiving the code when your MTN number is placed on DND. You can only receive it when you opt out of that service. Send 'ALLOW' to '2442' to opt out.

  6. I have sent 'ALLOW' to 2422 and MTN said I didn't subscribe for it; then wat is d problem. Smslive247 official phone number is not going through cos de say their fone line is bad. I need 2 send bulk sms rite now

  7. I have done this ALLOW code but MTN sent me this:
    Y'ello, you have not subscribed to DND or has unsubscribed from it.
    And still, I cannot get the message for my verification code. That's too bad at this time

  11. This is very painful, I kept sending message to hundreds of people without anyone informing me about this. hundreds of my recipient did not receive my messages, but I kept sending wasting my money. You guys should have communicated this very clearly probably with SMS. Its very painful

  15. Pls I have opt out frm DND mode and a message dat I have opt out has been sent to me but anytime I want to send bulk message, they said I should verify my phone number, I have done that but no message sent to me for verification. I'm really tired of this........ .

  17. This is very frustrating and feels like a fraud. I NEVER get rejected or failed delivery. My report always claims to have all SMSs delivered, and yet even my own number does not receive as i always add it on to monitor delivery. I have 3 different accounts for different associations. Am i to start calling my members one by one to know who hasnt received? And yet we are charged for it. I think it gives me peace of mind to use regular credit and be assured of delivery.

  21. whats wrong with your system are you guys out of business or what let us know so we take it as a loss i can't send or recieve text messages from your system whats going on somebody pls educate me cause I have read the thread and have sent message to MTN who replied I did subscribe to DND so am a bit confused with your system whats with this uncalled for security?

      The response you received (Y'ello you have not subscribed to DND or has unsubscribed from the DND service) does not mean that you have not subscribed. Kindly retry until you receive an SMS confirming that the deactivation is successful. This is necessary because the DND service has not been perfected on MTN platform.

    This has been the case since the introduction of the DND by NCC.

    Since you are sending to a group, you can inform them about the DND and how to opt out of it.

    To unsubscribe from the 'Do Not Disturb' (DND) service:

    For MTN lines, Text STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text ALLOW to 2442.

    For AIRTEL lines, Text STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text OUT to 2442.

    For GLO lines, Text STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text CANCEL to 2442.

    For ETISALAT lines, Text STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text START to 2442.

  28. I have text ALLOW to 2442 but receive a text back that i did not subscribe to the DND Service.
    I try sending another SMS to the line but did not still deliver...

    This is a very big issue considering the numbers involve.

      The response you received stated that 'You have not subscribe or unsubscribed'. To confirm your status, please send 'Status' to 2442, an sms will be sent to you verifying your status. You need to send 'Allow' to 2442 continuously, until you receive a message confirming that you have been deactivated from the DND service.

      It takes 24 hours after the deactivation before you can start receiving messages.

  29. It will be better to comply with MTN or any of the service provider to know the problem and solution for this problem, if you help client send msg and not deliver are they going to come back to you? by this process you also are losing customers.
