SMS delivery curfew on MTN Nigeria

Dear Customers,

Due to MTN Nigeria regulations, we regret to announce that SMS sent to MTN numbers after 7 PM will be delivered the following day from 7 AM.

This development does not apply to other networks, only MTN Nigeria. It has taken effect since on the 20th of May 2016, and has been indicated at the top of the SMSLive247 website. You can be assured that your messages between 7 AM and 7 PM will be submitted almost immediately.

  4. That message by 'Anonymou' is same with me with additional problem.

    I verified the same number last week and was able to use it. I was being asked to verify again today and I've tried it without getting any code. This is frustrating.

    Why must verification be more than once? I why can't I get the code AGAIN.

    Please note that this is the same number I've been using for years.

    This kind of frustration would make customers to take their business elsewhere.

    1. I have been waiting for that verification code for weeks & it never comes. I am using the same number I have for years. Why introduce a procedure now which is faulty, yet keeps me from doing anything with my account? This is annoying. I have another SMS service I use and I am thinking I'll leave this service as soon as my credits run out. Over time you have introduced too many annoying restrictions.

    Pls since yesterday i can not send Messages to some MTN numbers and it seems random as it affect some 0806, 0803, 0703 0706 numbers. I always get a REJECTED report while it successfully sends to some other MTN numbers, I have tried 3 times to send to the numbers with no luck

      The rejected MTN numbers are on MTN DND list. Those numbers will receive only bank alerts and phone to phone SMS. They will not receive bulk sms messages (unsolicited msgs). It was implemented last week.The owner of the number the has to call them to agree they want to be receiving unsolicited messages.

  62. I have recently observed that more often than not, MTN nos don't get to receive the message I send.
    Delivery report will indicate "Rejected", where as the SMS units would have been deducted without reversals.
    I can reliably inform you that I have lost over 300 units(summation from different accounts) due to these recent anormalies.
    Somebody please help before I change my mind before the end of today.
    The failure rate is fast becoming unbearable. Porting is seriously on my mind.

      Numbers on DND can only receive bank alert and phone to phone SMS.

      The owners of such numbers are advised to send ALLOW TO 2442 if they want their number to be removed from the DND list in order to be able to receive bulk SMS.

      To confirm if an MTN number is on DND, send STATUS to 2442.

    At about 6pm on the 21st of July 2016 I used my account f4folu@yahoo.com on SMS live 247 to send 505 SMSs. Within a few seconds I received an email and a text message telling me that 504 messages were submitted and 1 message failed and I was subsequently charged for 504messages.

    I decided to check the delivery report of the messages when several of the people I sent the SMS to expressed to me that they never received any message and i was shocked to discover the following statistics:

    DELIVRD 282
    ACCEPTD 0
    EXPIRED 21
    UNDELIV 8
    REJECTD 193
    TOTAL 504
    TOTAL CREDITS 504ç

    This stats reveal that 38% of my messages were immediately rejected (whatever that means) and not delivered and yet I was charged for it!

    This made me to go back and check the delivery status of my messages so far and I was shocked and angry at what i saw.

    Another example:

    DELIVRD 33
    ACCEPTD 0
    EXPIRED 0
    UNDELIV 0
    REJECTD 24
    TOTAL 57
    TOTAL CREDITS 57ç

    Here 42% of my messages were rejected (whatever that means) and despite that I was charged for all.

    I will not further bore you with other examples but I must also state that I have noticed that the issues started in my own case sometimes after 7th of July as I noticed that I sent 120 messages on the 7th with only one rejected but however sent another 120 to the same numbers on the 12th and this time around 44 messages were rejected.

    Please kindly explain to me
    1. What "rejected" means.
    2. More importantly why I should continue to use smslive247 when an average of 38% of messages I am charged for will not get to the people to which I sent the messages.

  66. Dear Customer,

    The rejected MTN numbers are on MTN NG DND (DO-NOT-DISTURB) list.

    Numbers on DND can only receive bank alert and phone to phone SMS.

    The owners of such numbers are advised to send ALLOW TO 2442 if they want their number to be removed from the DND list in order to be able to receive bulk SMS.

    To confirm if an MTN number is on DND, send STATUS to 2442.

      Also why should I be charged for messages that are not delivered? If the messages do not get to their destination why should I be charged? Please respond.

      And you were charged because the networks charge us for all submissions regardless of the status and we expend more resources in handling failed messages as we re-try sending these messages to the network before reporting it as a failed message.
