He made the statement when he visited the Executive vice-chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, in Abuja on 30th January 2018.
INEC intends to work hand in hand with the NCC and the telecommunications operators to assist the electoral body in the conduct of the 2019 election.
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu also stated, "Towards the 2019 general elections, we would like the operations in collaboration with INEC, to send bulk SMS and possibly voice messages as well on the imperative of peaceful elections,..."
In summary, bulk SMS will be among the primary electronic tools to be used by INEC and the NCC to announce the results in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
